The Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center: Southeast ADA Center wants to hear from agencies, organizations, and businesses who have used video interpreting services.
The newest technological advance for people who are deaf or hard of hearing is having Video Interpreters at their staff meetings, conferences, or even school. It is just as easy as working with an on-site interpreter, except the interpreter is working from a remote location and they are televised on location. They are available by appointment and emergencies 24 hours a day. Video Remote Interpreters can be utilized in medical settings, business meetings, academic classes, conferences, and courtrooms. It is not a difficult program to set up at a business and seems like a likeable and an easily maintained system.
Do you know of any businesses, state or local government agencies who have used or are using a Video Interpreting Service? If so, please contact sedbtacproject@law.syr.edu with success stories, reasons for the use of this type of service (such as no interpreters available, cost effective, etc.) or on the downside if any problems were encountered.
Thanks in advance!
