Go Clubbing: Start a Journal Club

Last fall, we had the pleasure of attending a workshop on forming reading groups to keep up on the latest publications in the rehabilitation literature. Bob Cox’s presentation at the National Rehabilitation Association annual conference highlighted several sources for material to start a journal club. He brought copies of Rehab in Review, a publication of Physicians in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Rehab in Review abstracts journal articles on a variety of topics. You can find out more about it and download a free sample at http://www.rehabinreview.com/

Similarly, the Cochrane Collaboration recently introduced the Cochrane Journal Club (http://www.cochranejournalclub.com/). Each new issue presents a Cochrane review ready to bring to your next meeting. Each review is subject specific (like this one on preventing falls in clinical settings) and includes the review, citations, podcast, and more. As of March 2010, there are 5 reviews posted to the site. You can also subscribe to get the latest.

So gather your colleagues, grab a cup of something hot, and get the discussion rolling!

Do you know of other journal club resources? Please feel free to post them here!
