The Hearne Leadership Awards are offered each year by the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). This award program recognizes exceptional emerging leaders with disabilities who epitomize leadership, advocacy, and commitment to the larger disability community. Two awardees will be selected from the cross-disability rights movement to receive $10,000 each to aid them in continuing their progress. They will also star in a documentary about their work, and will have the chance to join national disability leaders at the AAPD Leadership Gala in Washington.
Applications are due by November 1st and eligibility is for US residents with any type of disability. Applicants will need two letters of support: one from a professional reference and one from a mentor or supportive colleague. To apply, please visit: http://www.aapd.com/applicants/hearne-awards-applications.html.
