The Disability and Rehabilitation team from the World Health Organization (WHO) is announcing a call for research proposals to support the development of WHO’s guidelines on health-related rehabilitation, which will support the implementation of aspects of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). These guidelines will help provide direction to governments and other relevant stock-holders on how to develop, expand and improve the quality of rehabilitation services in less resourced settings. The organizations and entities encouraged to apply include research organizations (independent or based within universities), think-tank organizations, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, government organizations with a mandate to conduct research, consumer-run organizations, and individuals from organizations in low and middle income countries (LMIC). Collaboration is encouraged between LMIC organizations and individuals and high income countries.

The deadline for submission of proposals is January 31, 2013. Enquiries should be directed to Kristen Pratt via email at prattk@who.int. The winning applicants will be notified by March 2013.
