NIDRR Presents – Parenting with a Psychiatric Disability

NIDRR hosts Katy Kaplan, Associate Director of the Temple University RRTC on Community Participation of Individuals with Psychiatric Disabilities, for a presentation, Parenting with a Psychiatric Disability, on April 15th, 12-1pm EST, at Potomac Center Plaza, 550 12th St SW, Room 4090. Ms. Kaplan will discuss Center’s research and knowledge translation activities related to parenting with a psychiatric disability, provide an overview of what is known about parenting, and present the RRTC’s research contributions to increasing knowledge in this area. The presentation will include preliminary findings from the current RRTC study, “Assessing the impact of an Internet-based parenting intervention for mothers with psychiatric disabilities: A randomized controlled trial.” Ms. Kaplan will then discuss the RRTC’s knowledge translation projects, including her involvement in the National Council on Disability’s Report, Rocking the Cradle: Ensuring the Rights of Parents with Disabilities and Their Children, as well as her work as conference co-chair of the Fourth International Conference on Families with Parental Mental Health Challenges: Addressing the needs of families.
