Opportunities to Participate: ENACT is Currently Enrolling for Three Research Studies for People with Arthritis or Other Rheumatic Conditions

The Center for Enhancing Activity and Participation among Persons with Arthritis (ENACT) is currently enrolling participants for three arthritis research studies in Massachusetts.  Interested individuals may be eligible if they have:  knee osteoarthritis with knee pain; concerns about employment due to arthritis, lupus, scleroderma or fibromyalgia; and have had a knee replacement at least two years ago.  The open opportunities include:

The Work It Study Seeks Employed People with Arthritis or Other Rheumatic Conditions

This study examines two approaches to help people with arthritis or other rheumatic conditions, such as Lupus or Fibromyalgia, who are concerned about their health affecting their ability to work over the next several years, remain employed. The BOOST Study Seeks People with Knee Osteoarthritis for a Strength Training Program

This study is recruiting people 55 years and older with knee osteoarthritis for a progressive strength training program designed to improve knee pain and physical function.  Eligible individuals will participate in a strength training group with an exercise leader at Boston University two times a week for six weeks.  At the end of the class individuals will be asked to continue strength training three times a week at home with data collected on continued progress every six months for two years.  For more information about this study call The Boost Study at 617/353-2725.

ENACT Seeks Subjects 50 Years and Older with Knee Replacements

ENACT is recruiting participants, 50 years or older, for a research study that addresses difficulties in completing activities in home and community activities following knee replacements.
