Alzheimer Iberoamerica: Improving the Quality of Life of People with Alzheimer’s Disease in Latin America

According to MedlinePlus from the US National Library of Medicine, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is “the most common form of dementia among older people” and it affects a person’s ability to carry out daily activities. There are organizations all over the world that help people with AD and their communities. One such organization is Alzheimer Iberoamerica, an international federation of Alzheimer’s associations and foundations with members in 21 Latin American countries. The federation’s mission is to improve the quality of life of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and of their caregivers, families, and community. Alzheimer Iberoamerica promotes knowledge about AD and other dementias, provides support to their members, defends the interests and rights of people with AD in Latin America, and promotes scientific research related to dementia. The federation hosts a yearly conference and promotes related conferences throughout Latin America, publishes a digital bulletin throughout the year, and shares activities related to AD that are occurring throughout Latin America.
