The National Observatory of Peru works as an instrument for the management and exchange of knowledge and information on disability in Peru and elsewhere. The organization supports collaboration in which strategic information is collected, processed, and generated in different areas of intervention for people with disabilities. This work helps governments and professionals in working together to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate public policies, programs, and projects related to people with disabilities, including their civil rights and programs and policies that help meet their needs. The National Observatory also provides information for the development of research, studies, and academic debate and informs the general public about services, specialized knowledge, and key statistics on disability. The Observatory’s technical direction is part of the National System for the Integration of People with Disabilities (SINAPEDIS). The National Observatory provides various services and programs at the national, regional, and local level for people with disabilities and their families, including mental health community centers, virtual healthcare for people with disabilities, and more; provides guides and summaries on best practices related to advocacy for and by people with disabilities and social programs for children and teens with disabilities; and provides an online library with articles on multimedia, databases, training, information for people with disabilities, and more.
