The NIDILRR-funded National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center (NSCISC) is accepting applications for the 2022 DeVivo Mentored Research Award. The award is a one-year, $3,000 research award for trainees who are interested in conducting a research project using data from the National Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems (SCIMS) Database. The program is open to current trainees at pre- and post-doctoral levels, including resident physicians.
Research proposals must be based in whole or substantial part on the SCIMS database and must include a mentor’s commitment to oversee conduct and dissemination of the research.
Applications are due by Friday, July 8, 2022 and must include:
- Cover page with title of proposed research, trainee name, contact information, and proposed mentor(s).
- Proposal, not to exceed 3 single-spaced pages not including references, describing the planned research and how the SCIMS database will be used to address research questions.
- Letter of support from mentor(s).
- CVs from the trainee and mentor(s).
- Budget and budget justification pages clearly indicating how funding will be utilized. The award may be used to supplement stipends, cover direct project costs, and pay travel expenses to professional conferences to present research findings.
Applications will be reviewed by NSCISC faculty, members of the NSCISC Advisory Board, and SCIMS Project Directors.
Payments will be made to awardee in two installments: $2,000 upon written Acceptance of Award and $1,000 upon receipt of final report.
Awarded trainee may be invited to present at the biannual SCIMS Project Directors Meeting at the Ritz Carlton, Pentagon City, Arlington, VA.
Announcement of the award will be made Friday, August 26, 2022.
