If you liked… What are hidden and invisible disabilities?

May 2022 hosts a variety of awareness events, including Mental Health Awareness Month, Better Speech and Hearing Month, National Arthritis Awareness Month, and National Stroke Awareness Month, among others. To help celebrate, we are updating our blogpost on hidden and invisible disabilities, which include stroke, mental health issues, arthritis, and vision and hearing disabilities. NIDILRR supports people with hidden and invisible disabilities by funding projects that research and develop interventions, assistive technologies, innovations, methods, and more. As part of their mission, the NIDILRR grantee community shares their research findings related to hidden and invisible disabilities through publications, conferences, factsheets, guides, calendars, and more. These highly informative publications can be found using NARIC’s REHABDATA, a searchable database of all the items in NARIC’s collection. NARIC’s Research In Focus series looks at these new interesting and innovative findings in an easy-to-read manner, including A Novel Music-Based Exercise Intervention May Help Improve Physical Functioning in Adults Post-Stroke.

If you would like to learn more about hidden or invisible disabilities or would like to find resources in your area, please contact NARIC’s information specialists via chat, phone, or email.
