INVEDIN: Children’s Integral Development Institute of Venezuela

The Children’s Integral Development Institute of Venezuela (INVEDIN, Spanish acronym) (in Spanish) is a nonprofit organization that was founded over 45 years ago in Caracas, Venezuela to help improve the quality of life of Venezuelan children and teens with developmental disabilities. INVEDIN serves children and teens with developmental disabilities and their families from vulnerable populations through education, scholarship programs, research, and evaluation and treatment programs, among others. INVEDIN provides training each year to more than 520 professionals in the areas of child and youth development.

INVEDIN funds and runs two centers:

  • The Diagnosis and Treatment Center (CDT, Spanish acronym) (in Spanish) is dedicated to the care of children and teens with cognitive, behavioral, language, motor, and/or socio-emotional disabilities, involving the family and the school environment in the process. The purpose of the CDT is to help each child and teen reach their maximum potential and achieve a better quality of life. The services of the CDT include personalized programs that are designed according to each child’s individual characteristics; comprehensive and holistic solutions that involve parents, representatives, and teachers; and complete plans that involve screening, evaluation, and treatment.
  • The Special Education Center (CEE, Spanish acronym) (in Spanish) offers comprehensive education to children and young people between the ages of 3 and 25. The CEE serves children, youth, and young adults with cognitive disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, and developmental disorders. This center works from a holistic perspective with an emphasis on socialization and based on maximizing the skills of the students. Staff also offer tools that make it easier for students to integrate with dignity in all areas of Venezuelan society.

Finally, INVEDIN provides the latest news and events (in Spanish) from the Institute itself, its centers, and from around Venezuela.
