SUYAY Perú: Helping to Improve the Lives of People with Disabilities

SUYAY Perú (in Spanish) is a non-profit association that was formed by a group of people who work to improve the living conditions of those in need, including people with disabilities, in Lima, Perú. The work of SUYAY Perú is based on first-hand knowledge of the social reality of Lima, Peru and volunteers work where the most serious situations and cases of social exclusion are concentrated. The association works to assist with multiple needs including unemployment, substandard housing, illness, and children with malnutrition or without schooling. SUYAY Perú uses the Mutual Aid Program (MAP) as a guideline that helps to create a support network that contributes to the shared development of all. The services provided by SUYAY Perú include therapies for people with physical and psychological disabilities, support for families without resources, collaboration with special education centers, support of subsidized food programs such as cafeterias, vocational workshops, and more.
