CONAIPD: Working Towards the Inclusion of People with Disabilities and Protecting Their Rights

The National Council for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities (CONAIPD, acronym in Spanish) (in Spanish) is the governing body in El Salvador in charge of developing the National Policy for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities and related policies and activities protecting the rights of people with disabilities. CONAIPD offers guidance and management for compliance protecting the rights of Salvadorians with disabilities, including the Salvadoran Technical Standard on Accessibility to the Physical Environment. CONAIPD offers consulting services on the issuance of driver’s licenses for Salvadorians with disabilities, access to education, access to healthcare, access to work, and access to dignified housing. The Council also offers professional and technical training, the delivery of technical aids, the processing of pensions, support for the development of entrepreneurial initiatives, and technical inspections. CONAIPD offers training and dissemination services on the Special Law on the Inclusion of People with Disabilities and the Salvadoran Technical Standard NTS on Accessibility in the Physical Environment and raises awareness about disabilities. The Council shares the latest news in El Salvador related to disabilities, including news on employment workshops, the delivery of assistive technologies, and the delivery of humanitarian aid kits, among others. CONAIPD also shares information and raises awareness about mental health and how to take care of one’s mental health.
