Quick Resources for an Inclusive Holiday Season

We’re right in the middle of the holiday season, with Thanksgiving behind us and December celebrations ahead of us. Whether it’s a family gathering or a company function, you can make sure holiday celebrations are inclusive of people with disabilities. We gathered some resources from the NIDILRR community and elsewhere to help in planning for holiday celebrations everyone can participate in.

Thank you for your comment! You don’t indicate where you live, but if you are in the US, there are a few resources we can recommend. The first is to find the Center for Independent Living serving your community. These are organizations run by and for people with disabilities, offering services and supports to help them fully participate in their community. You can learn more about CILs and find your nearest center here: https://www.ilru.org/projects/cil-net/cil-center-and-association-directory

The second resources we recommend is calling 211 for community level information and referral. Call 211 from any phone or go to https://211.org and a trained Community Resource Specialist can help you find local help whether it’s financial need, housing, healthcare, or other supports.

We hope this information is helpful to you or anyone else who finds this post and is in need of assistance!
