New(er) Numbers: Prevalence and Causes of Disability

The CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly has released a new statistical analysis of the prevalence and most common causes of disability among US adults. Using data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation, the authors report no significant increase in the percentage of adults with a disability (22% in 1999, 21.8% in 2005), but a significant increase in the number of persons because of our aging population.
