CONADIS Peru: Working for the Recognition and Protection of the Rights of People with Disabilities

The National Council for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities of Peru (CONADIS Peru) (in Spanish) works to guarantee the recognition and protection of the rights of people with disabilities, creating conditions in their environment to address and overcome gaps and obstacles and exercise their rights on an equal footing with people without disabilities. CONADIS Peru formulates, plans, coordinates, executes, supervises, and evaluates national and local policies on disability to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and their families. As part of the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, the Council works to guarantee and protect the human rights of people with disabilities for their full and effective inclusion in society. CONADIS Peru provides services to people with disabilities (in Spanish) regarding support services and service animals, obtaining adaptive vehicles, and connecting them to support organizations. The Council provides a way to file complaints (in Spanish) against organizations and businesses for non-compliance with the rights of Peruvians with disabilities and spaces for dialogue (in Spanish) between the Peruvian government and Peruvian citizens regarding projects related to people with disabilities. CONADIS Peru shares resources related to accessibility, inclusion, and management (in Spanish) related to disability. Finally, CONADIS Peru has created a portal (in Spanish) where citizens with and without disabilities may find a directory of public officials, laws, regulations, and other legal provisions that govern disability-related entities.
